5.0.4 Beta Feedback

Since the other thread has gone somewhat astray...

Has anyone played around with the search changes in 5.0.4 yet? If so, any feedback?
Mar 25, 2013 at 9:11 PM
I made a new test site from one of my sites with a big forum. Updated it from 4 to 5.0.4 but I’m having problems with the ‘Input string was not in a correct format’ errors. Deleting the forum settings is not an option because there are 158 forums with many different settings. I really would like to help with more testing but this is not possible when getting this error every time.

Other things I saw so far:
• Update from 4 to 5 shows ‘first time use wizard’ and makes new sample forums in the existing forums.
• After searching posts the button jumps back to topics. The full text search results looks good to me.
• Search on user gives no results.

I spent some time this weekend working on the code that loads the settings. It should be a lot more robust in the next build. Hopefully that will prevent the input string errors going forward.

Regarding searching on user giving no results, are you using display names in your forums? The username search is an exact match search.

I used Username, now I tried with display names and it works. May-be it is an idea to have some help icons in the search screen so users can see what to use.

Does the control panel look like this for everyone else?

Image

I believe it has look like that for every build in DNN 7+, for me at least.

Have you tried a different container?

I don't see this on my main site, but I do see it on my test site using the default DNN 7 Skin. Everything still appears to work even though the layout is a bit messed up.

I've been thinking about re-working the entire control panel using Knockout.js and WebAPI, but that's going to take a while. In the short term if someone wants to try and update the control panel CSS, I certainly wouldn't mind.

Yeah, I am using the default dnn7 skin & container.

It is actually caused by the dnn skin, its overwriting the height set in line 120 of controlpanel.css

.amnavbar {height: 61px;...}

you can ignore this, I don't think it needs to be changed in the module.

There are a few forums where the settings are not accessible. The eventlog shows:

I installed the latest Beta but I still have the ‘Input string was not in a correct format’ and the ‘forums settings’ errors.

I worked on this over the weekend. If I get time tonight, I'll post a new build that should finally resolve the issue.
Apr 1, 2013 at 8:22 PM
Thanks, Jason.

Any chance it will also resolve the afpg url issue?

Yes, Chris has checked in that change. It will be included in the next build I post.

I just uploaded AF with beta 2 and I still have the afpg issue when I enable URL Master. I will try again tonight.

Beta 2 or the Beta 3 I just posted?

I meant beta 3. I am the 40th downloader.

Please try the download again. Christoc pointed out to me that I uploaded the beta 2 package again by mistake. :(

The correct build is posted now.
Apr 2, 2013 at 3:34 AM
Yay! Its working now! Thank you, Jason and Chris.
Apr 2, 2013 at 5:54 PM
The ‘Input string was not in a correct format’ is now working good. I can see now all the topics. Good work.
The ‘forums settings’ errors are still there.

The settings error is something different. I'm not sure what's causing it and I can't seem to duplicate it on any of my installs.

I'll take a look at control panel and see if I can see anything obvious.

You're saying that it works for some forums and not for other right? Can you walk me through the exact steps you take to get the error?
